Ankle Sprain

Ankle sprains occur when the foot is turned inward or inverted. Sprains are caused by running on uneven surfaces, or landing on uneven surfaces during competition.


  • Swelling in the ankle because of the gathering of fluid in the tissues
  • Pain in the region of the ankle when standing
  • Painful to touch ankle region or to move foot in certain directions
  • Redness and warmth in ankle due to increase in blood in the region


  • Application of R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate) method immediately
  • Ultrasound and Laser treatment
  • Anti-inflammatory medication when necessary
  • Surgery for severely torn ligaments
